be held in Washington, DC, November 3-7, 2007.

public health.

The
APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition is the oldest and
largest gathering of public health professionals in the
world, attracting thousands of national and
international physicians, administrators, nurses,
educators, researchers, epidemiologists, and related
health specialists. APHA’s meeting program addresses
current and emerging health science, policy, and
practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and
promote health.
The
2006 Annual Meeting & Exposition
in Boston, Massachusetts, November 4-8, was a
success. This years main theme was Public Health and
Human Rights. The Public Health Expo, Registration, the
Opening General Sessions, Poster Sessions, Social Hours
Business Meetings and comprehensive collection of
hundreds of Scientific Sessions were housed at the NEW
Boston Convention and Exhibition Center (BCEC) near
Boston's beautiful waterfront all designed to enhance
knowledge and exchange information on public health.
Additional scientific sessions, meetings and social
events also took place at the Westin Boston Waterfront
(connected by skywalk to the BCEC) and just a short walk
away, the Seaport Hotel.

The APHA estimated that over 13,000 public
health professionals from around the world
gathered at the 134th Annual Meeting to discuss
pressing issues in public health and human
rights, including emergency preparedness, access
to health care, health disparities and pandemic
influenza.
Highlights of the meeting included the adoption
of new policies by APHA’s Governing Council. In
particular, the governing body approved policies

The APHA-Chiropractic Health Care Section (APHA-CHC)
Reception was held on Monday, Nov. 6 at 5:30
p.m. at the Foundation for Chiropractic
Education and Research (FCER), Research Office
in Brookline, MA. The reception was graciously
hosted by Anthony L. Rosner, PhD, LLD [Hon.],
FCER Director of Research and Education.
An award ceremony was held during the APHA-CHC
reception. Dr. Andrew Isaacs (2006 APHA-CHC
Chair) recognized Mrs. Lori Byrd and Dr. Kurt
Hegetschweiller for their outstanding
contribution to the APHA-CHC in 2006. Other CHC-members
were also presented with a certificate of
appreciation for their exceptional involvement
over the past year. Great job to all.

The APHA Annual Meeting and Exposition
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
December 10-14, 2005
premiered a platform to discover
exceptional practices, to share latest research in the field,
network with colleagues and attend the largest public health
exposition in the nation. It is estimated that over
11,000 public health professionals from around the world came
together to discuss the pressing issues in public health for
2005 and the years to come. Issues that dominated much of the
discussions were the impact of the 2005 Gulf Coast hurricanes on
the US health care system.
This APHA
133rd meeting was especially important to the
Chiropractic Health Care Section (CHC) since it marked its 10
year anniversary.
Highlights this years meeting included the keynote speaker U.S.
Senator John Kerry, Arkansas Governor and National Governors
Association Chairman Mike Huckabee and public health officials
from the Gulf Coast.
